Fall FLEET

Right after regular school started we started back up with our second year of FLEET - our homeschool co-op. It's a lot of work to organize, plan, and get going, but it's so worth it once everyone is there and things get rolling. My kids loved their fall classes, friends, and teachers!
We kicked off the year with a potluck at a local park. The thunderstorms kindly waited until we were *almost* done before they crashed in. We had a lot of new families join us (interestingly, most of them had moved in from out of state).
FLEET is held Monday afternoons for two hours (two classes). Graham's classes were 1) Mary's Randomness and 2) Magic School Bus Science. Mary's Randomness ended up being a lot of art and science, but Graham really enjoyed the excitement of not knowing what to expect each week for class. His group of 1st/2nd graders was our biggest class with 11 kids.
Nellie's preschool group has six kids and she looks forward to FLEET days all week long. I taught one of her classes - Letter of the Week.
Her second class was a fabulous Simple Science class. They did such cool stuff!
Thane's classes were 1) Jump rope and 2) Bedtime Math (math games). He enjoyed both classes but ended up in love with jump roping.
We had two big FLEET parties - one for Halloween and one for Christmas.
Those make for crazy, but super-fun co-op days. Here's the whole FLEET crew in their Halloween costumes:
In September we also took a FLEET field trip to the Salmon Hatchery.
We split the kids into rough age groups to take the tour.
Such a beautiful day!
They finished off the field trip with some epic wrestling matches on the grass.
