Ensign Sledding

On New Year's Day we met up with friends at Ensign Ranch for sledding. Aubree invited her friend Lily to join us.
Ensign doesn't have big hills, but the small slope was perfect for the 10 and under crowd.
The day was cold but gorgeous.
Nellie remembered her traumatic experience sledding last year and was reluctant to try again. Eventually we convinced her to go down just once. She insisted on going down by herself and also wanted to choose her own starting point. Ironically, her starting point caused her to hit the only big bump on the way down. She caught some air, but managed to hold on to the sled. She was super proud of herself for holding on but was not interested in another run.

After about an hour, the boys declared themselves bored and ready to go home. Part of me (the cold part) wanted to say, "Let's pack it in!" The other part argued, "No! We did not drive 90 minutes to play for 60!"
We decided to stick it out and of course, that's when they really started having fun. Bryce and Thane immersed themselves in building a sledding jump then started digging snow tunnels with friends.
Nellie and Graham and their beloved Silvie spent joyous hours making snowballs.
Aubree and Lily kept themselves happily occupied building snow families and a snow cave.
