Aunt Sue's Quick Visit

My Aunt Sue is a legit world traveler.  She's visited and re-visited well over a hundred different countries.  She's also an experienced, in-demand, and very busy physical therapist in Southern California.  So, when she takes time to fly up to visit us, we feel very, very privileged.
Sue arrived Saturday morning, just in time to join us to watch Seth play in a basketball game.  In between cheering for Seth, and re-acquainting herself with all the great-nieces and nephews, she helped Nellie learn how to crawl!

After the basketball game, she volunteered to join Mark in taking Bryce and Thane to their soccer games.  An afternoon of little kid soccer isn't always the most exciting way to spend the day, but Sue was such a great sport.  Since she was going, most of the other kids decided they wanted to go as well.  That left Katie and I to stay home and let our two babies nap quietly.  Glorious!
Once they returned from soccer, Sue pulled out a bag filled with treasures she's collected from her travels around the globe.  The kids took turns choosing what they wanted from the trove, and each left with a pile of new favorite things.  It was quite interesting to see how their personalities showed in what they chose.  And not to be left out, the adults also got a few treasures.  I was most excited about a small nativity carving made in Israel, and two new tote bags (since my old bags were splitting at the seams).
In the evening, Sue treated us to dinner at Mod Pizza.  We made for quite a crew (we caught the people at a nearby table trying to count how many kids we had in our group), but everyone had a wonderful time.
After putting the little ones to bed, Aubree stayed up late getting a private gymnastics lesson (did I mention Sue is also a former gymnast and gymnastics judge?).  Aubree's been trying to master a cartwheel, and Sue's guidance was extremely helpful.
Unfortunately, Sue's busy schedule meant she had to return home Sunday morning.  I was looking forward to getting a final hour of talk time with her on the way to the airport, but Nellie woke up with a 102 degree fever.
We are so grateful she took the time to come visit with us and look forward to having her back again (hopefully soon!).
