My Favorite Place

Last summer I discovered a park near our home that sits right on the river.  I fell in love, and we went as often as we could.  Last week, we finally made it back for the first time this summer.  I put out an open invitation to join us on our ward's Relief Society Facebook page, but the morning dawned cloudy and cool and when we arrived, we were the only one's there.
Soon, however, friends began to arrive.  By the time we left (grudgingly) a few hours later, we had a huge group there with us.  Most of the people had never been to this particular park before, and they all agreed, "How did we not know about this hidden treasure?  It's the best place!"
All the kids had a blast playing in the mud and water.  Bryce, ever the engineer, rallied his forces to build a new canal.
Thane flitted back and forth from the mud to the water.  Letting my kids play in mud every so often makes me feel like a good mom.
The water is cool, clean, and shallow.  Perfect for the little ones!
Oh, it's perfect for the big ones too.  Aubree hunted for neat rocks, then made swimming pools for bugs when some older girls (her age) arrived a little later on.
One mom had the genius idea to bring some floaties.  The kids had a blast with them.  I think they'll be a must for all future outings.
I hope we can make it back a few more times before the baby arrives and/or the end of summer.
