Publix

I try my best to be a bargain shopper. I usually do most of my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart because their prices are generally lower than the other grocery stores around. Today, though, I had some great coupons/deals for Publix, so I loaded up the kids and off we went. I'd never done my actual grocery shopping at this Publix before and I was very surprised at how my trip turned out. We had an AMAZING experience (so great that now I'm blogging about it).
For starters, they had the car carts. Aubree's eyes lit up and she scrambled in and spent the entire time grinning and happily "driving" around (at one point she gestured for me to lean over and commented, "Mom, I'm driving you crazy!"). We learned that they'll soon be getting space shuttle carts - how apropos. As soon as we walked in I noticed that almost every employee would smile at us, or stop to talk to the kids, or comment on how cute/sweet/wonderful they were. Most other patrons also stopped to make a comment or smile at us. It was such a marked difference from my usual shopping trips. By comparison, the workers and customers at Wal-Mart seem downright unhappy and stand-offish. We had such a good time and found some fabulous bargains. I'll definitely have to make a sincere effort to patronize this store.
