Graham's 7th Birthday

This handsome young man had his 7th birthday in early September.
This year his birthday fell on the second day of school. That's arguably better than the first day of school, but it definitely meant we were slow getting started with "official" school. The kids certainly weren't complaining, especially when it meant doughnuts for breakfast!

This was a party year for Graham. I felt pretty burnt out after Nellie's party just a few weeks earlier (the whole point of only having friend birthdays every three years was to have them spaced out, but it backfired with Graham and Nellie!). Thankfully, with a summer birthday, we had outside options. A friend very generously allowed us to borrow her amazing inflatable bounce house slip and slide - instant party success!

Graham, our resident animal lover and expert, wanted a jungle theme. Aubree helped make themed decorations to welcome party goers.
Graham was excited that everyone would get animal masks.
We made paw print cupcakes for dessert. They're just right for my skill set!
This year, the weather cooperated, and the kids were able to fairly happily play outside in the water.
Graham is Mr. Social Butterfly, and he loves absolutely everyone, so he had a really hard time narrowing down a guest list to a reasonable amount of kids who could safely play on the bounce house.
He loved having so many friends together and was sad to miss the ones who couldn't come.
He got a ton of gifts from his friends (another downside of friend parties...at least from a parent perspective).
To know Graham is to love him. He has a contagious zest for life. He loves people, fun, adventures, and laughing. He always has a joke or two ready to share and has never met a stage on which he wasn't eager to perform or volunteer. If friends are his first love, reading is a close second. When he's not playing, his nose is stuck in a book.
We are pretty blessed to call him ours!
