Nellie's 4th Birthday

Since she was turning four, Nellie got to have her first ever friend birthday party. She's a super social girl and couldn't wait have her own party. She was adamant that it be a butterfly themed event.
When the little girls arrived, they got their own pair of butterfly wings. Nellie asked Aubree and Lily to paint butterfly wings on their faces as well. It's really nice having big girls around to help with these type of things!
Planning birthday parties, especially for four year olds, is not a strong point for me, but I think Nellie and her friends had a reasonably good time. I guess you can't go too wrong with nets and balloons, right?
Or maybe wrong...
They played games, helped make their own butterfly cupcakes, and opened presents.

Nellie just wanted to hurry through the activities to get to whatever activity she knew was coming next.
One of the gifts we got her was a Rosie the Riveter shirt, because she saw them all the time on our road trip and it went along with the theme of her collecting Rosie's. Unfortunately, she decided that she does not like the shirt and has subsequently refused to wear it. She can be stubborn like that.
Nellie is full of personality! She's truly a delight and makes everything more fun.
She loves people, music, and laughing. She's opinionated, lively, and loving. She never hesitates to tell you exactly what she thinks. We're working on tact.
Every night Nellie asks me to tell her a story about what she's doing the next day. She loves to be out doing fun things with friends and family. She also loves wearing dresses and every chance she gets she chooses to wear one.
She drew this picture of herself with Hank. Hank is in 7th grade. Ha!
