Thanksgiving

I've got to get through the other major holidays before Christmas arrives!
Aubree's co-op had a Thanksgiving feast the week before Thanksgiving (we took the entire Thanksgiving week off from co-op!). The kids were in charge of preparing and bringing the food items themselves. Aubree chose to make an apple pie. She did it completely independently.
On Thanksgiving day, we went to my Aunt Deanna's and Uncle Ray's. On the drive up it was rainy and cold and I assured the kids they would not be playing outside. "Yeah," remarked Bryce, "it's not Easter!"
When we arrived, the sun rebuffed my predictions, and the kids spent a good chunk of time playing outside.
When they weren't playing outside or eating, the kids spent time with their cousins, played games, or hung on Uncle Seth.  There is never a shortage of food, fun, or family at Aunt Deanna's!
Aubree brought along her violin because my cousins are so encouraging of her fiddle tunes, and Aubree loves an audience!
I think Bryce had some pie buried in there somewhere...
Thanksgiving this year fell on our 16th Anniversary. Happy Birthday to our family! For our gift this year, we got ourselves a new dishwasher. We're romantic like that. Bryce and Mark did a great job with the install and we are thoroughly enjoying having clean dishes.
The day after Thanksgiving we traditionally pull out all our Christmas stuff and decorate the house. The kids couldn't wait to get to the Christmas books.
I think they spent a good chunk of the day reading through piles of Christmas stories.
We got a new tree this year. We love that it's pre-lit (okay, I love that it's pre-lit since it was always my responsibility to string the lights), but it's a lot smaller than our old tree and that's been an adjustment. The kids were excellent helpers with the putting up the ornaments. Graham stuck around the longest, so he got to be in the "ta-da" picture.
Nellie discovered and loved the stuffed tree. She carried it around with her all day.
She was heartbroken when I wouldn't let her sleep with it.
Bring on the holiday spirit!
