Pick-up Summer Soccer

Like last summer, we organized pick-up soccer games.  Unlike last summer, we did not play every week. Instead, we met only on Wednesdays evenings when our family didn't have other commitments.  It ended up being about every other week.  We organize teams based on whoever is able to show up each week, so every week is a different experience.
Nellie joined us in the beginning of the summer, but we quickly learned it was 10x easier when she stayed home with Mark.
Graham joined us most weeks.  We didn't always have a little kid game for him, but when we did, he loved getting to participate. Our friend captured a few snippets on video. The first shows Graham playing like he totally knows what he's doing.

The second clip is slightly more accurate in portraying his normal performance.
Bryce and Thane weren't always super excited to go, but they always had a lot of fun once we got there and started playing.
It's interesting to note how much better they play in this low-key environment.  They're not afraid to jump in and challenge older or better skilled players, and usually do so while laughing heartily.
It's also interesting to note how you can see in the pictures the grass slowly dying.

Since it's usually warm, we take frequent water breaks.  I think the kids like the breaks as much as they like playing ball.
They got very creative in how they played in the dirt and gravel.
Graham always left with a new friend or two.
 Gravel angels.
