Visit with Aunt Sue

My globe-trotting Aunt Sue is also a gymnastics judge.  When I was a kid she would drive up from her home in Southern California to judge college gymnastics meets at Cal Poly.  My cousin, Christie and I often got to tag along and watch the meets from the stands.  Obviously, these experiences didn't spur me to pursue gymnastics in any way, shape, or form (I never even managed to do a cartwheel!), but I do remember enjoying watching the athletes.
Fast forward, uh, many years and Aunt Sue is only judging a handful of meets a year.  Last weekend brought her to Seattle and our whole family trekked in to the convention center where VIP passes to watch the meet were waiting for us.
Aubree, with her new-found love of the bars at recess, only wanted to watch the girls flipping and spinning.
I was impressed with how well Bryce and Thane handled watching the events.  They seemed to like the floor exercises best.
Graham just wanted to run around, so he soon earned himself a VIP seat on my back in the Ergo carrier.  When Sue had a minutes break from judging, she ran over and brought a "geography book" over for the kids.  Inside were pictures of her doing handstands all over the world.  She's visited over 100 countries and is rapidly adding more to her list.
Sue had an hour's break in between sessions, so we ran downstairs and she treated us all to smoothies. Yum!
She was so great with my kids, that soon Thane was sitting in her lap trying to get her undivided attention.  It was wonderful to catch up with her briefly before she jets off to her next destination...which I believe is Buenos Aires.
