Catching Up, part 1

I think the worst part about blogging/journaling is playing catch-up. I feel so far behind that I don't know where to begin. Oh well, I've wasted enough space and time complaining, I might as well just get started...
Backing WAY up... Before we left for our trip out West, we had a special and somewhat unwelcome visitor - Tropical Storm Fay. I say "somewhat" because although she dumped tons and tons of rain on our county, we were largely spared the ridiculous amounts of rainfall (i.e. upwards of 24 inches) and Mark had three (paid!) days off of work. For one or two of those days Fay sat almost stationary just off the coast and Titusville was right in the eye of the storm. Rain and wind whipped the cities all around us, but it was so calm here that some of our friends seriously debated whether or not to take their boat out on the river. My main concern was whether or not our flight out to my sister's wedding would be impacted and thankfully it wasn't. This is our third hurricane season in Florida. The last two years were wonderfully uninteresting. This year we're not quite so lucky. Stay away Ike!
Thursday, August 21st, in the midst of Fay, we began our two week trip out West. Our plane left Orlando at 7 pm and we arrived in Las Vegas at 11 pm (2 am Eastern time). I was really worried about how the kids would do flying at night and I was SO thankful that both Aubree and Bryce slept most of the long flights. Just before we left, a wonderful friend helped me make a baby sling and a wrap. I used both of these a ton on our trip and they were lifesavers, especially while we were flying! I don't know what I would have done without them.
My dad picked the four of us up at the Las Vegas Airport and we stayed the night at a hotel there. Early the next morning we headed to St. George for my sister, Colleen's wedding. We got to meet her almost-husband, Andrew, for the first time.
He is a wonderful man and we think he and Colleen will be extremely happy together. When Aubree met him, she immediately ran up and gave him a big hug, which made her other uncles jealous because they had been unsuccessfully trying to get her to give them hugs.
We had previously questioned the sanity of having a wedding in St. George in August, but it turned out to be a picture-perfect day. Colleen looked stunning and the sealing, as always, was amazing. I am so proud of Colleen for the choices she's made in her life that brought her to that special day and I'm grateful for the example she sets for me and my kids!
Since we had just arrived late the night before, this was the first time we got to see most of my siblings, my mom, and other wonderful relatives. We had a great time celebrating the day with Colleen and spending time together.

I was going to get soooo mad at you for not calling me to tell me you were in Utah, until I read that it was St. George. So you're forgiven, but just realize the consequences if you ever come to Utah again and NOT tell me!!!
