Performance Overload

It's a well understood fact that December is a busy, often hectic month. To try to compensate for that understanding, it seems like everyone schedules their holiday events the first week of the month. This year it made for a crazy-busy week for our family.
*On Tuesday, Aubree and two of her talented violin friends, Bryton and Kolton, serenaded the Relief Society sisters at our Christmas dinner.
They played three songs and, though I know I'm biased, sounded fantastic. I think by next Christmas they'll be ready to hire themselves out to play at company holiday parties. (Do companies hire musicians to play at their holiday parties?)
*On Thursday I took the oldest three to Seattle to see Annie at the 5th Avenue Theater. The play didn't even begin until 7:30 pm, which meant it was a super late night for us. Thane spent most of the play complaining, "I wish I were home in bed!" but by the end, they all agreed it was worth it. Bryce says it's his favorite of all the plays he's seen.
*Friday evening we had two different performances, so Mark and I had to divide and conquer. Mark took Nellie and went to watch Thane and Bryce perform with a children's choir for our Stake's Celebrate the Nativity event.
I got to watch their dress rehearsal, so even though I didn't see the actual performance, I know they did a great job.
Aubree, Graham, and I went to watch a friend, Charlotte, perform in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Her group did a really impressive job, and we all really enjoyed the humorous play. Graham recognized another friend and that especially helped him love the performance.
*Saturday afternoon Aubree and I went to the Nutcracker to see one of our co-op friends perform the role of Clara. I can confidently say that Brycelyn made a fantastic Clara! I can also confidently say that ballet is not my cup of tea.
*Saturday evening it was Aubree's turn to perform with her violin group at the Celebrate the Nativity event.
Her strings group always sounds wonderful, but this performance was especially poignant since this will be the last year our Stake hosts the nativity event.
Katie brought her kids down to see Aubree play. That made a great night even better!
We had a little bit of time afterwards to enjoy the other Nativity events. Thane made a beeline for the Bingo game because he knew the prize was a candy cane.
We found the artwork Thane and Graham had drawn to be displayed.
Thank you Art Hub for Kids!
Of course we finished off the evening in the cookie room. Besides the chance to perform, the cookies will probably be what my kids miss the most.
It was a jam-packed week. It felt like we crammed a year's worth of culture into just a few days, but it was wonderful.
