Nellie turns 2!

After our Alaskan cruise, Grandma and Grandpa Winters stuck around long enough to help us celebrate Nellie's 2nd birthday.
The day before her actual birthday, Katie and her family came over to spend the afternoon with us. As is now tradition, Katie made a really fantastic birthday cake.
Nellie was super excited about her elephant cake!
She especially loved having all of us sing her "Happy Birthday," and she insisted we sing it to her over and over and over again. In fact, in the weeks after her birthday we often heard her singing "Happy Birthday to Nellie" to herself, and, when Graham had his birthday four weeks later, she was quite upset when we substituted "Graham" for "Nellie!"
Nellie is wearing pajamas in these pictures not because it was bedtime, but because Nellie loves pajamas, and brought this pair down from her room. She'd rather wear pajamas than dress-up clothes, but, when given the opportunity, dress up clothes and pajamas are even better!
It's so fun to watch Jordyn and Nellie grow up together.  They are quite the dynamic duo!
Nellie's actual birthday was full of fifth child adventures. You know, exciting things like watching your four older siblings have swimming lessons and sweating to half to death in the sauna-like conditions.
She really loved the "snuggle puppy" musical toy Grandma and Grandpa Winters gave her, and quickly learned the words to a few of the songs... "you can be a doctor, you can be a ROCK STAR!"
Strangely, it took weeks for the gift we got for her to arrive from Amazon, but she's young enough that she didn't mind too much and she loves her purple elephant sippy cup. She's quite the elephant fan.
That night we went out to dinner to celebrate our wonderful caboose. She didn't particularly like her grilled cheese, but everyone shared their food with her, and she was happy she got to sit in the high chair (interestingly enough, she adores high chairs of all kinds).
It's hard to believe our baby is two! She brings so much joy and laughter into our home.
I often tell her, "you're such a big girl!", but she inevitably replies, "No! I'm a baby!"
Works for me kid. Works for me.
