Memorial Day

I just love the fact that I'm not pregnant as we head into this summer!  I am so excited to get outside and hike and play.  Since Memorial Day is the unofficial kick off to summer, we decided to start off strong.
We met up with our friends and our cousins to try a new hiking trail, Coal Creek Falls.  The actual falls were just a stone's throw from the starting point.  We laughed at ourselves for stopping and spending more time taking pictures than we'd spent hiking.
It was worth it though.  The pictures turned out great!
The hike was beautiful, though thoroughly and unexpectedly muddy.
We hiked at the pace of our two- and three- year old hikers, but still had a good long snack break in the sun at our turn-around point.
After the hike we went to the Harps for lunch and Seth helped Bryce work on his first pinewood derby car.  Exciting times!
In the evening we got together with friends for a Memorial Day BBQ and potluck.
It was a wonderful day, and we are indeed grateful for the freedoms and privileges we enjoy in this country as a result of the ultimate sacrifices given by so many brave men and women.
At church on Sunday, Nellie got into the patriotic spirit.  She wore a dress my mom made for Aubree, but by the time Aubree got it, it was way too small.  So Nellie gets to be the first to wear it.  When Mark saw it, he asked if everyone saluted when she passed by.

Great pictures and I love Nellie's dress! Would you like me to bring some more hand-me-downs to Myrtle Beach?
