Aubree is almost done with elementary school. She is not at all excited about the school year ending. As the year winds down, she is experiencing "last times." Her last Friday of school, last field trip, last choir practice, last performance.
Her class put on a great talent show last week. Aubree was adamant that I attend. It meant significant juggling, and help from a friend, but I managed to get there with Nellie and Graham, and an extra 4 and 5 year old.
It was worth the effort. Aubree played a violin solo (Come Thou Fount), sang a duet with her friend Kaitlyn, and also played her violin in a class musical number (The Lion Sleeps Tonight). This girl loves to perform.
Speaking of performing, a few weeks ago Aubree again competed in the annual Speech and Debate Tournament. Like last year, she entered two categories: Storybook reading, and Solo, Duo, Trio. I was surprised she was willing to try Solo, Duo, Trio again because last year after the tournament she was pretty sure she would not do it again.
For storybook reading, Aubree chose to read "The Bugliest Bug." She got 2nd place again!
For Solo, Duo, Trio, Aubree and her friends (Yash and Kaitlyn) put together a script from The Phantom Tollbooth.
They spent a lot of time practicing in the couple weeks leading up to the tournament. All their practice paid off, as they won 1st place!
