My sister, Kira, is just a wee bit crazy (in the best way possible). Her kids had a couple days off of school in mid-October, so she loaded all four of them in her car and drove (solo!) all the way up here from Utah in one straight shot!
When I told my kids Kira and their cousins were coming, they all had a similar response, "Yay!! We get to see Kami!!" They remember her week long visit fondly.
Despite arriving super late on Thursday night, we were up and out the door early Friday morning to go to a field trip at Auntie Anne's pretzels. We met up with some friends and were soon learning the surprisingly interesting history of the pretzel (I don't think the kids found it quite as fascinating).
Then the real fun started. The field trip leader brought out a HUGE bowl of pretzel dough and the kids each got to practice making as many pretzels as they wanted. When they were done each kid got their own pretzel (not of their own making) and lemonade. They were a sticky, but happy crew when we finished.
Following our field trip, we swung over to Katie's house. Lauren was at the tail-end of her 10 day visit to help Katie following the birth of baby Jordyn, so we had 4/5 sisters together for the afternoon! So much fun! And, with our combined 14 children, pretty wild as well!
Saturday, Kira and I (with 6 kids, Mark was on soccer duty with our boys), went up to visit with the Bonus Family - always a treat!
When at home, there were a lot of scenes like this (everyone crowding around Chase or Tyson watching something on the iPad):
The iPad is apparently even more interesting than helping Mark make banana bread!
The kids had a great job re-connecting with their cousins. By the time Kira had to leave early Monday morning, Kami was no longer the only one they were going to miss. Thanks for coming up, Kira!| Matchy-Matchy cousins |
