Orchestra Camp

Until about 2 weeks ago, I didn't even know our city had a Youth Symphony/Orchestra.  A random flyer caught my eye advertising a week-long camp focusing on Disney music.  I signed Aubree up, but then couldn't decide if it that was a good decision.  Would the music be too hard for her?  How would it be trying to play along with so many other people?  But she won't know anyone there!
Initially, Aubree wasn't too keen on the idea, but once she learned that there were daily dress-up days, she was totally gung-ho.
Wednesday Weird Day
When she showed up the first day, she also happily discovered a friend from our homeschool co-op was there.  Aubree came home everyday saying it was, "awesome," and "so fun."  Considering that playing violin isn't usually high on her favorite things list, I'd call that a smashing success.

This evening was the culminating concert.  Since Aubree was only in the beginning class, she participated in just two of the numbers.  She told me all week how much she loved hearing all the parts play together.  She's also convinced that when she gets big enough, she'd like to switch to playing the flute.
We decided to take the whole family to see the concert.  It was short (only an hour) and with good naps this afternoon, we hoped the boys could handle it.  They couldn't.  Halfway through we were sitting in the foyer (granted, a lot of the problem was Graham, and I can't really expect him to understand, especially an hour after his bedtime!).
A fabulous stranger noticed Bryce and Thane were still restless and asked if they would be willing to "help" her.  Praising their strength, she had them assist her in moving a couple tables and chairs.  Then (wink!), she changed her mind, and decided the table and chair needed to go back to their original spot.  The boys returned to me with huge grins and a few moments later the concert ended.
Aubree says she "definitely" wants to do it again next year.
