Use Your Sniffer

At preschool, Aubree's been learning about the five senses, which prompted this question:
"What's your favorite smell?"
Aubree answered, "flowers...roses!"
I made the mistake of asking Aubree first, so when I asked Bryce, he also replied, "flowers!"  Even a few days later when I tried the question again, he remembered to answer, "flowers!" So, though I don't know his favorite smell, this conversation did remind me of one of his favorite sounds...
One morning, shortly before Thane was born, Bryce and I were cuddling in my bed.  Outside my window, the birds were singing loudly.  "Listen, Bryce," I instructed, "do you hear the birds?"
"No, Mom," he quickly answered, "Beep, Beep!"
"Beep, beep??" I wondered, "what is he talking about?"  I strained my ears, and sure enough, in the far distance I could hear the "beep, beep, beep" of a trash truck backing up.  Bryce enjoys his "beep, beeps" so much, that I've stopped using the stove timer when he gets put in time-out because it's way too reinforcing for him to hear it beep!
As for me... I narrowed my "favorite smells" list down to three:
1. Petrichor (a fancier way of saying wet dirt)
2. Orange Blossoms. Heavenly! That's another thing I'll really miss about Florida.  (You want to know one thing that I WON'T miss...old, pudgy men who never wear shirts.  I think it's a Florida thing, but I've been here almost 5 years and it still makes no sense to me.)  But orange blossoms? Fabulous!
3.  Newborn/Infant breath.  Seriously, it's intoxicating.
So, what's your favorite smell?

One of my favorite smells is tomato plants. When my plants are young I hand trim some of the small leaves to encourage growth of larger limbs, and I just love it.

I have too many. All related to food. But I love, love, love the smell of baked bread. I love the taste of it even more than the smell.

I love the smell of freshly cut hay at twilight. It just smells like childhood and home.
