In my last post, I remarked about our "Christmas Miracle," in that no other kids got Aubree's illness. Less than one hour after hitting "post," Thane was puking. Oh, the irony. I have to say, he handled it like a champ! The first time he woke up not feeling well, I offered to bring his mattress to the floor in our bedroom. "No," he said, he wanted to stay in his room. We brought him a bowl and told us to call if he needed us. A while later we heard him calmly call. He'd already thrown up... in the bowl! What a difference a year makes!
The next day was Graham's turn. Sick 8, or 3 year olds are sad, but sick 1 year olds are the epitome of miserable. To make matters worse, Graham has had a cold he cannot shake for almost 2 months. We've been to the doctor multiple times. Gone through antibiotics for ear infections. Used an inhaler for coughing and wheezing. Not much improvement. So, when he got the "flu," it just added insult to injury. Poor kid just wanted to be held 24/7.
He seems to be mostly recovered from the stomach ailments, but I'm afraid the cold symptoms just might be a permanent feature. Sigh.
Regardless, I'm still grateful we managed to have a healthy Christmas. Being sick on New Year's doesn't seem to be nearly as lamentable. And speaking of New Year's... the healthy kids managed to have a lot of fun. On New Year's Eve, Aubree and I went out to lunch and to see Frozen (which we really enjoyed). It was a blast spending one-on-one time with my #1 girl.
That evening our friend planned a New Year's Eve party for kids from 5-8pm, which is such a fun idea. Aubree and Bryce came along and had an awesome, rowdy evening. We made our traditional New Year's Eve chocolate pizza.
Everyone brought potluck dinner and treats to share.
A favorite, time-consuming activity was decorating party hats. One word: glitter!
Add to that a balloon drop and a photo booth, and, well, let's just say I had to drag my kids away at 8:15 pm.
In other news, most of my grandiose plans for "getting things done" during the stay-at-home holiday remain unrealized. Drat! I did manage to fix holes in a couple pairs of pants. That's something, right?
Oh, and Graham is trying really hard to teach himself how to walk down the stairs. Over, and over again he tried to step down the first step. Today he tried his luck from the 4th step up. Can't say the outcome was quite as positive.

Great patches! We heard on the news that Boeing made a deal with the union. Does that impact you?
