* Aubree, our little fish, started swimming lessons last week. Since she's not yet three, she is in the "water babies" class and has a parent with her in the water. Swimming lessons are every day for two weeks. As you might expect, Aubree loves her "swimming class" and would wear her bathing suit all day in preparation if I allowed it. I'm a little worried about how she'll react when the class is over!

* I posted a while ago about how Aubree asked me to tell her stories about Jesus. Perhaps she's trying to make up for lost time, because now she asks to hear stories about Jesus all the time. I am more than happy to oblige and am impressed with how well she listens and also how well she remembers the stories. Her three favorite/ most requested stories are:
1. "The Busy Woman" (aka - the story of Mary and Martha)
2. "When Jesus was a Boy" (aka - when Jesus was 12 and taught the men at the temple)
3. "The Naughty Lady" ( aka - the woman taken in adultery)
* Lately Aubree has been obsessed with dresses and skirts. Every morning she wakes up and says, "I want to wear a dress today!" Luckily, her desire to wear dresses has come at a time when I am really interested in making her dresses. Below is a picture of the most recent dress I made for her. It's made from an adult button-up shirt and is amazingly easy to make. That being said - I did make a bunch of mistakes on this dress. I consider it my practice dress and have a couple more on the docket. Here is the link to the instructions.
* Bryce, like his sister before him, HATES his car seat. I'm lucky if I can make it out of the driveway before he starts screaming. I hear stories of how other kids fall asleep as soon as the parent starts driving and I can't help but wonder what I'm doing wrong. On a positive note, Bryce is doing wonderfully with his sleeping. He consistently falls asleep around 7:30 pm and then doesn't wake up until 3:30 am. It's like he has an internal alarm. He's laughing more and more and has an adorable dimple in his left cheek. Here's a fun picture of him screaming.
* I am a den leader for a small group of cub scouts and Aubree adores her scouts. We recently went on a field trip/hike to a local wildlife sanctuary. Before the hike the kids got to learn about animals and nature in a mini-museum. Aubree especially liked making animal tracks in the sand:

* Here's a picture from a recent playgroup at the park. The kids are having a picnic on the blanket and it makes me laugh because all of the kids have funny faces. Now the weather is so hot we probably won't be going to the park for a few months. Instead, we'll try to have playgroup at the beach or a pool or inside. Yesterday for playgroup we took the kids to a free movie at a local movie theater. It was Aubree's first time in a movie theater (Bryce's too, of course). We saw Madagascar and she seemed to like it well enough. Can't beat free.

It's so fun to read and catch up on how your kids are doing. That's so fun that Aubree likes her swim lessons. I got in the water the first day with Bethany, but she does so much better without me there. The teacher only does 2 students at a time, so it works out great. I sure wish our girls knew each other so well and could play often. One day we'll make it down there.
Your kids are just so cute! I am the primary councilor over the cubs-they are a lot of fun. Asher just loves them too.
I love that she asks you about Jesus. We had a small problem when Eric learned about the crucifixion, now he will say (out of the blue), "I don't like nails in guys!"
I used that exact same pattern to make a dress earlier this year! Yours looks much better than mine, though.
